At St. Patrick School, discipline is viewed as an aspect of Christian discipleship.
Teachers will inform parents at the beginning of the school year of their classroom rules and expectations. During the first weeks of school, teachers do many activities to help students learn the routines and rules that make the school day run smoothly. This training is intended to foster an atmosphere of responsibility and security. A discipline plan will be sent home to parents.
When students are not in their classrooms, we believe that “all students belong to all teachers”. All students are to observe the following school rules:
No chewing gum
No playing or running on the bleachers
No playing in the parking lot before or after school
No running in the school building
No loud talking in hallway
BULLYING/HARASSING BEHAVIOR
In Catholic schools, the faith-based community of students and adults should respect, protect, and share the God-given life, worth and dignity of every person. Behaviors, including bullying and harassment are forms of violence that are not acceptable and cannot be tolerated in Catholic schools as normal behavior or normal human development.
Students who are determined to have engaged in various forms of conduct of this nature will be subject to progressive discipline as follows:
1) Teacher/student conferences and discipline
2) Teacher/student/parent conferences
3) Loss of privileges
4) Suspension
5) Expulsion
