HOMEWORK

It is strongly recommended that homework be given. Homework assignments should be: educationally sound, provide for an application of previously learned material, correlate past and present material, and provide opportunity for parent and child to share in the learning process.

Assignments not completed at the close of school on any given day are deemed “homework” and are to be returned to the teacher by 8:00 a.m. on the next school day. If assignments are not handed in by 8:00, they will be considered late work. Students may receive nothing higher than 85% on any work considered late. Occasionally, take-home projects which require more time are assigned, these should be returned at the teacher’s discretion. The average primary (K-3) student will have approximately 2 1/2 hours of homework per week. The average intermediate (4-5) student will have approximately 5 hours of homework per week.

MAKE-UP WORK

Parents are asked to be sure that students stay caught up with their work. Parents should arrange to pick up school work for their children when absent. If parents call for homework in the morning, it will be ready to pick up by 3:10 p.m.

The make-up work for an extended absence shall be determined by the teacher.
